Three people dead in West Virginia after head-on collision

Three people died this weekend in a car accident on a West Virginia interstate. The accident was the result of one motorist driving the wrong way down the highway and causing a head-on collision with another vehicle.

Both drivers, who are also both residents of West Virginia, were pronounced dead at the scene. The third victim, a Guatemalan citizen, was traveling in the car hit by the wrong-way driver going the wrong way. He later died at the hospital from the injuries he sustained.

Police reconstructed the crash and, based on evidence from the scene, they ruled the accident as an errant head-on collision caused by an eastbound vehicle in the westbound lanes. The two victims who had been travelling westbound had to be removed from their vehicle with special tools. The impact of the two vehicles was forceful enough to dislodge and scatter various car parts on the road.

Negligent drivers like this can be extremely dangerous. When a driver operates a motor vehicle without maintaining total concentration on the task, other motorists can pay the price. Fatal accidents like the one discussed above can be traumatic. Families grieving for the loss of their loved ones might find it hard to maintain their daily lives and they may find themselves facing financial hardship.

Luckily, an attorney well-versed in personal injury law might be able to provide some comfort for these families. Those whose lives have been shattered by a fatal car accident may want to speak to an attorney about their legal options, such as filing a lawsuit in an attempt to recover damages to help cover funeral expenses and lost work wages. A personal injury attorney might be able to provide the assistance a grief-stricken family needs to help them move past their tragedy.
